Join us for a Christmas to Remember! Victorian Christmas Open House Saturday, December 1, and Sunday, December 2, 2012. 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. RAIN OR SHINE! For our Victorian Christmas event this weekend, the Banning Museum and grounds will be transformed into a Christmas festival featuring Victorian period entertainment , self-guided tours of the Museum, refreshments, children’s crafts, and a visit from jolly St. Nick! One of the highlights of the festivities is a horse-drawn trolley ride between The Banning Museum and Drum Barracks Civil War Museum, also in Wilmington. A Master Lace Maker from Bruges, Belgium will discuss Belgian Bobbin Lace making and guests will be allowed to examine samples displayed. Victorian Mourning Lecture- October 27, 2012

There will be a question and answer session after the lecture along with a walk-through of the Museum’s Victorian Mourning Exhibition. Tea & Tunes – An Afternoon of Elegance and Style Our 8th Annual Tea & Tunes was held February 9, 2013, a beautiful Saturday afternoon. Guests enjoyed a selection of teas and an elegant light luncheon and were able to tour The Banning Museum. Lovely and amazing string music by local artist Maestra Valerie Geller graced the event. Judging from the gorgeous hats and finery many of our guests were wearing, old fashioned elegance truly never goes out of style! Phineas Banning was a “Financial Wizard of the Old West.” Banning used various forms of media from the 1800s to promote his vast business ventures. Please join Friends of Banning Museum for a special lecture on Saturday, October 11 at 10 am in the historic Stagecoach Barn at the Banning Museum. The Ada Hancock Disaster remains the most tragic loss of life event to take place in the Los Angeles Harbor. Banning Museum Director, Michael Sanborn will lecture on the cause and aftermath that impacted the survivors and the businesses that suffered as a result of the horrific explosion. Aboard the ill-fated steamer, some of Los Angeles’s most notable figures of the time were killed instantly. Phineas Banning himself was aboard and was severely injured
