Friends of Banning Museum to hold Wisteria Garden Party
Join us for the first-ever, Wisteria Garden Party when we will honor our Wisteria Scholarship winners in the beautiful Howard Rose Garden at the Banning Museum. Come enjoy light refreshments, a hosted bar, live music, a silent auction and raffle, complimentary professional photos and an exclusive look at a special house display created for this event. Join us on Saturday, August 20 as we celebrate the “Father of the Los Angeles Harbor” with live music by local band, JB and The Big Circle Riders, dancing and delicious barbecue provided by Lucille’s Smokehouse Barbecue! Victorian Christmas – Saturday, December 3, 2022
Victorian Christmas Returns!
Join us for the holiday event of the season, Victorian Christmas! On Saturday, December 3 from 12 pm – 4 pm, the Banning Museum grounds will come alive with holiday festivities for all ages, including a walk-through tour of the mansion, horse-drawn trolley rides, a visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus, Christmas crafts, cookies and cider, a blacksmith demonstration, “The Holiday Carolers” and more. And, thanks to our amazing sponsors, admission to Victorian Christmas is absolutely FREE!
We will also hold a raffle to benefit the Friends of Banning Museum. This year’s raffle will be (5) $100 Amazon Gift Cards AND (5) $100 Best Buy gift cards. That is $1,000 worth of gift cards! The best part is that the cards are in increments of $100 so if you win, you can give them away as presents for Christmas!
Proof of *full COVID-19 Vaccination and Personal ID will be required for those 12 and older to enter indoor museum locations and will be verified before entering the campus. Negative tests will not be accepted. *Fully Vaccinated: Two weeks after receiving a second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccination or two or more weeks after receiving the single dose of the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccination.
Masks are recommended but not required indoors.

2023 WISTERIA REGALE
Join us for the Friends of Banning Museum annual fundraiser, Wisteria Regale to be held on March 25 from 5 pm – 9 pm. The theme for this year’s event is “The Time Machine.” Please feel free to dress for the occasion in Victorian Steampunk or other themed attire.
The evening will feature a silent auction, a delicious dinner, hosted bar, entertainment by Big Lucky Band, and the Banning High School Scholarship presentation.

Keeping History Alive Series Returns with “Los Angeles in the Civil War”
1863 was considered the turning point of the Civil War. Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation in January, and the Union Army won the Battle of Gettysburg in July.
Join us on Saturday, May 20 at 10 am in our historic barn as we mark the 160th Anniversary of the Civil War and the role Phineas Banning played in the war with a fascinating lecture by Drum Barracks Civil War Museum director, Tara Fansler.

Keeping History Alive Series Continues With Intriguing Lecture on the Port of Los Angeles
Join us on Saturday, November 11 at 9:30 am in the Banning Historic Barn when The Keeping History Alive Series kicks off with a fascinating lecture by former Port of Los Angeles Executive Director, Geraldine Knatz on her book, Port of Los Angeles: Conflict, Commerce, and the Fight for Control. 
With years of research and more than 200 maps and images, Geraldine Knatz shapes an insightful storyof the Port of Los Angeles, from its early entrepreneurs to the city’s business and political leadership, and the inevitable conflicts that arose between them. Knatz digs into the back stories of the key players in a hardcore, well-documented piece of storytelling at its best.
This lecture is FREE for Friends of Banning Museum members and $5 at the door for non-members.
